The Community Access Program (called CAP) is an initiative of Industry Canada with an objective to improve the accessibility to computers & the Internet in rural communities across Canada.

March 1996 Class

Early in 1996, Breadalbane was selected as one of eleven sites on PEI (and one of only 211 successful applicants from across Canada!) to receive partial funding from Industry Canada. The funds were used to purchase a computer for the library and to subscribe to the Internet. Residents of the community & surrounding area now have convenient access to a computer for using the Internet, as well as a full range of other computer software applications.

June 1996 ClassComputer training is a key component of CAP in Breadalbane. CAP training sessions were held in 1996 & included: an introduction to word processing, drawing pictures, and navigating the Internet. During the time between the weekly sessions, participants used the computer in the Breadalbane Branch Library for individual personal study sessions. To date, more than fifty (50) individuals have become comfortable with using the computer and accessing the Internet.

The community's multimedia Pentium computers can be reserved (phone 964-2520) during normal Library hours on:

2:00pm to 5:00pm
Thursdays
