Nature Trails

Nature TrailRails to Trails offers approximately 7 km of pristine hiking, biking, and cross country skiing trails from Murray River to Murray Harbour. The Murray Harbour line, as it was known to the railway, is the last branch of former rail line being developed into trail. A short section from Murray River to Murray Harbour was completed some years ago and in 2004, the Wood Islands and Area Development Corporation took up the challenge with some interesting additions. The project tackled trail on the rail bed from Iona to Murray River and set out to make the project relevant to tourism and regional economic development in south-east Kings and Queens Counties by adding a connection from the rail bed to Wood Islands. In doing so it establishes a water route by ferry connecting to the Trans Canada Trail in Pictou County. Trails are all about connections!
