The entrance to the beautiful estuary of the Murray Islands and situated on the edge of the prosperous fishing village is Beach Point. Modern fishing boats pass by this range light, which indicates the safe channel to this historic estuary. Nearly 200 such vessels start fishing operations in late April, lobstering during the months of May and June and continuing through the summer and fall for crab, ground fish, herring, mackerel, and blue fin tuna. Several species of seals surf by in the tide looking for something to eat or sometimes just frolicking in the waves. Sit by the light and watch the curiosity of the harbour and grey seals as the gulls look for tidbit leftovers. Pleasure craft make this estuary one their must visit destinations for safe berthage and place to visit. Many people in the area enjoy the safe sandy beach and sand bars each summer. Beach Point BeachBeach Point is three miles from Murray Harbour on route 18 and is positioned on the most southern part of Kings County and the province of P.E.I. We have warm, clean salt water in which to play and swim. The beautiful sunrises and the breath taking sunsets will be a life long memory. Walk the sandy beach to the lighthouse or explore the cliffs at nearby Cape Bear. Beach Point has one of the most scenic and safe sunning and swimming locations anywhere. A series of sand bars are out of water at low tide, twice a day. The warm summer sun heats the sand and the clean, salt water absorbs this warmth as it returns from the sea. Nature walks and picnics are more enjoyable here as one can explore the nearby cliffs and seashores. Beach Point has one of the most prosperous fishing ports in the province.
