Who uses CAP sites?
Everyone uses CAP sites. In many cases, youth and seniors
have the most restricted access from other sources and are the largest users of CAP
centres.

- What is the cost to use the CAP
sites?
Although not regulated, most CAP sites offer access free of
charge to the general public. A few, in most cases community centre locations, will charge
a small fee ie. $1.00 per session to cover basic expenses. In most CAP sites a small fee
also applies to consumable goods such as printing, copying etc. In our CAPsite, this is
all free for the time being
- What does the future hold for CAP?
Increasingly CAP sites are being looked at as the most
appropriate and only capable national network to deliver many forms of on-line services
such as distance education, tele-medicine, electronic commerce and government services
delivery.
- Who benefits from CAP and how?
Due to the direction PEI took by focusing on creation
rather than consumption, the real winners are those who take advantage of CAP projects and
special programs. Participants benefit from these programs that serve as the first step to
a career, educational, business or quality of life improvement opportunity. In many cases,
youth involved in CAP programs have moved on to IT courses, some have started companies.
- What kind of training can I
receive at CAP sites?
While most CAP sites offer the basics in training ie. how
to use a computer/Internet, most also conduct short courses on specific softwares such as
word processing or spreadsheets.
- Who owns the CAP sites?
The sites are owned and managed by the community
organizations that make applications to Technology PEI. Although certain performance
criteria must be met by all sites, most have the ability to determine their own programs
and services.
